ROCKY - efficient software for modeling granular media by discrete elements (MDE or DEM - Discrete Element Method), allows quick and realistically simulate the maximum particle flow behavior of the bulk material with the desired properties in any process and apparatus.
ROCKY - advanced software for modeling processes with bulk materials and related equipment. In the software product used discrete element method (Discrete Element Method - DEM), which allows you to quickly and accurately calculate the behavior of a stream of particles of different shapes and sizes as it moves along the conveyor lines, on vibrating screens, mills, crushers and other kinds of Machinery and transport equipment .
ROCKY software product was based on 20 years of experience in the development of computational methods using DEM technology company Granular Dynamics International LLC, unit Conveyor Dynamics, Inc. Further development of the product will be carried out within the framework of the Brazilian company ESSS. Initially, the product development took place with regard to problems of mineral processing, with a focus on the calculation of the motion of particles in cylindrical mills and continuous transport systems. With the release of new versions ROCKY capabilities greatly enhanced and allow for a wider range of tasks, for example, calculation and visualization abrasion working equipment surfaces, the calculation of air flow resulting from the motion of the bulk material particles during transportation, and more.
From other software solutions using the DEM method, ROCKY distinguished primarily by the use of realistic possibilities of non-spherical particles, modeling their destruction without loss of weight and volume, as well as the calculation and visualization of abrasive wear of working surfaces of equipment components. With the ability to create realistic form of particles which behave in the same way as the real particles, taking into account various conditions "stress" in ROCKY possible to simulate virtually any installation work.

customization
ROCKY unique software package that can be configured to the requirements of the customer. ESSS team will provide a change of the code to suit your specific requirements.
Integration and Data Transfer
- The software package enables you to import Rocky XGL files, STL, and DXF, which can be exported from CAD programs, such as Autodesk Inventor or AutoCAD;
- data about the geometric model and the impact force of the particles may be stored and transmitted in finite element analysis (FEM)
ROCKY joint calculations and ANSYS
ROCKY and ANSYS
Granular materials are widely used and processed in a variety of industries for centuries. However, until now there is a shortage of accurate information about their behavior under different conditions. In some cases, bulk materials behave as discrete solids, the liquid in the other or even subjected to compression effects of the gases.
There is a growing need to create reliable predictive models of behavior of bulk materials, taking into account the impact on the hardware elements, thereby providing solution design problems when upgrading or creating a new innovative equipment.
The simplest case of the interaction type "particle-geometry" (particle-to-structure interaction - PSI) comprises transmitting from the solver DEM (e.g., Rocky) dataset of power loads from bulk material particles in the structure elements. Solver ANSYS (or other FEM - solver) provides structural calculation response to the force effect of the particle flux. ROCKY comprises a fast and accurate joint performance algorithm calculations and FEM DEM techniques for mismatch computational grids.
