Electrical Wiring Design Solid Edge Wire Harness Design is a module for efficiently creating, laying and organizing wires, cables and harnesses in Solid Edge assemblies.


It ensures that mechanical engineers and electricians work together on projects and create complete and accurate digital mockups containing both mechanical and electrical parts and assemblies, which eliminates the need for costly prototypes. Errors in the design, such as exceeding the allowable diameter of the wiring harness or too small radius of its bend, are continuously monitored as the design progresses, and the designer is immediately informed about all identified problems. During the wiring process, reports are generated showing the length of each cable (including slack and margin for stripping the ends) and its parameters. Exporting ready-to-use connection table files containing the mechanical characteristics of the cables allows you to create sets of design documentation that are ready for production.
Automated cable routing
After electrical engineers have developed an electrical circuit and tested it on a prototype (this task becomes increasingly important as the scale and complexity of electrical systems grows), mechanical engineers automatically create cable and wire routing routes using the cable wizard. The Layout Wizard downloads data from specialized electrical circuit design systems, such as Mentor Graphics, Cimteam, and Vesys, and automatically sends the connection table and parts list to Solid Edge.
